State Level Requirements


March 2009: Passed HB 2566 to clarify that it is a felon offense to assault a government representative or health care worked, including a contracted employee or self-employed individual providing services for an agency or organization for reimbursement by or under contract to the state. Many child welfare and in-home health and social services programs operate under contract with the state or by providing reimbursable services. Many of the social workers who provide these services are contracted employees or self-employed.
February 2012: Passed House Concurrent Resolution 82 asking that legislative committees meeting in the interim period before the next regular session study the policies, procedures, issues, and recommendations related to assuring the safety of any state employee or employee providing contractual services on behalf of the State of West Virginia who is required to make field, community or home visits to clients, consumers or members of the public
